Shared Space Design Guidance |

The UK Department for Transport published it's 'Local Transport Note 1/11 - Shared Space' in October 2011 which gives advice on the design of Shared Spaces.
The desirability of Shared Space as a general concept has been widely accepted by those working in the various professions relating to the planning and design of the urban realm. However the design of Shared Spaces has presented some dificulties for designers in ensuring that the application of shared space principles do not result in the exclusion of some of the most vulnerable members of society.

New Regulations for Road Safety Management |

The Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport has made Regulations (Statutory Instrument No. 472 of 2011) dated 21st September 2011 entitled "European Communities (Road Infrastructure Safety Management) Regulations 2011" giving effect to EU Directive 2008/96/EC. The Regulations are to apply to roads which form part of the trans-European Road Network (TERN).
One of the effects of these Regulations is the introduction of new requirements for the educational qualifications for Road Safety Auditors operating within Ireland.
